Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television reporter, commentator anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She joined the CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. Two years later she became a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. She became Chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell hosted and participated as a panelist at the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist during 1988's presidential debates, that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and in 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her contribution to the protection for First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered in the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during both the terms of President Ronald Reagan. She has covered several notable reports over the years, such as budget reform, tax reform and The Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell traveled extensively along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
